Half-way from Périgueux and Mussidan, the Château of Puyferrat (meaning in old French : fortified hill) is situated 2 km from the center of the small town of Saint-Astier, right-side of the Isle river. The domain includes 100 hectares of woods and fields. The garden has a nice 18th century chapel with modern frescoes. The Château is a rectangular building with round towers and turrets.
The vaulted cellar houses the kitchen, the big staircase leads to the nice framework, and also to the centry walk on machicolations which offers a wonderfull panorama on Saint-Astier and the white Périgord.
